Our Coaches

Robert Arroyo Hernández

Coach Robert has 10 years of coaching experience with players of all ages and all levels ranging from recreational to professional level. He currently serves as a Technical Director for his local soccer club where he coaches several club teams and is also the head coach for the varsity high school team of Summit Preparatory, the current undefeated Central Coast Section champions. Coach Robert has led Summit Preparatory to an undefeated season where they became the first charter school to win the CCS championship and the first charter school to qualify to the state championships. Coach Robert also became the youngest head coach to ever win a CCS championship and was also awarded with the Coach of The Year award. 

Coach Robert grew up playing for several of the top local clubs and academies. During his club career he received several accolades and won several recognized championships, including the California State Cup. While in high school he went on to play overseas in Japan for Gamba Osaka’s youth academy. After his time in Japan, Robert returned to the United States to play USDA soccer for Juventus Academy. After high school he decided to further his education and play at the collegiate level at the Division 1 and JUCO level. Coach Robert now plays at the professional level with Bay Area Futsal Club and Bay Cities FC at the NISA level. 

Coach Robert is passionate about his community and providing quality development to players of The Bay Area. He focuses on all areas of his player’s needs and believes in strengthening The Bay Area through developing players and practical individuals by providing a program where everyone can thrive and become successful. His aim is to provide athletes with the proper development so they can achieve the biggest of their goals. 

Joseph Montero

Coach David has 3 years of coaching experience with all ages. He currently runs private sessions and also coaches varsity boys soccer at Pinewood High school in Los Altos.

Coach David grew up playing for local club Santa Clara Sporting where he won several top tournaments like Dallas cup, Regionals, and State Cup. During coach David’s youth he was also part of the U.S. National team and played amongst the top players of our country. He was also part of the PDP team and traveled to Mexico for Chivas Cup. After high school he attended West Valley College and played 2 years there.

Coach David is passionate about the growth of the youth in the Bay Area, he pays good attention to each kid’s tendencies and makes sure they are engaged. He focuses on the fundamentals of the game and making sure that the material being taught correlates to the game and will help the individual thrive.

Coach Joe has an extensive coaching background where he has had the privilege to coach players of all ages and all levels. He has had the opportunity to share his knowledge with players in Europe and California.

Coach Joe is a Bay Area native and got the opportunity as a youth player to play amongst several of the local elite clubs and academies. During his club career he received many individual accolades and won a CCS championship with Serra High School. After his club career he played at the college level where he was the top goal scorer and got to lead his team into back to back playoff runs. He then transitioned to a professional playing career where he played in Spain and Portugal. He also has played 7 years of futsal.

Coach Joe hopes to share his knowledge to the next generation of soccer players in his community.

David Hernandez

Christopher Sumano

Christopher brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the field, having competed at the highest levels of youth and collegiate soccer before transitioning into coaching. As a player, Christopher developed through elite programs, including Juventus Soccer Club, Santa Clara Sporting, the San Jose Earthquakes Academy, and Santa Cruz Breakers Academy, before playing collegiately at California State University, East Bay. While at Santa Clara Sporting, he was part of a highly successful team that won the NorCal and CYSA State Cup and reached the Far West Regionals quarterfinals. During his time with the San Jose Earthquakes Academy, he competed in another U.S. Youth Soccer Regionals and played a key role in winning Surf Cup, one of the nation’s most prestigious youth tournaments.

Christopher was also recognized as a PDP Region 2 player, a PDP State Pool player, and was invited to NorCal U.S. Training Centers, where he trained alongside top youth talents in the region.

Transitioning into coaching, Christopher began with Fremont Rush, where he spent a year developing youth players. Since January 2025, he has been coaching at Bay Area Footy, continuing to share his passion for the game and helping players develop both technically and tactically.

With his deep understanding of the game, Christopher is dedicated to fostering a high-level training environment that supports player growth and development.
